NIO ES9 2026: Price, 620 km Range, 900V Tech and BaaS

NIO ES9 2026: Price, 620 km Range, 900V Tech and BaaS

Quick Answer: The 2026 NIO ES9 is a six-seat executive battery-electric SUV priced from RMB 498,000 outright or RMB 390,000 with BaaS in China. NIO claims up to 620 km CLTC range, a 900V architecture, 5C charging and three-minute battery swaps. Deliveries began May 28; NIO reported 10,000 cumulative deliveries by June 26. Real-world range and export availability remain unverified.

Last verified: July 16, 2026. China prices and specifications use NIO’s May 27 launch release; delivery progress uses NIO’s July 1 investor update.

Page role: This is BYDToday’s preferred ES9 model and buyer-intent page. Post 1427 repeats the launch and should not become a second owner; Post 1694 remains a dated early-delivery follow-up. For the wider company context, see NIO and William Li and the NIO Battery Swap and BaaS guide.

NIO ES9 price in China

NIO launched the ES9 on May 27, 2026, and said deliveries would begin the following day. BaaS prices exclude ownership of the battery and require the applicable subscription; they are not a simple cash discount. Taxes, insurance, options and local incentives are also separate.

Official NIO ES9 China prices announced May 27, 2026
Version Outright price BaaS vehicle price Important limit
Executive Premium RMB 498,000 RMB 390,000 Battery subscription is additional.
Executive Signature RMB 558,000 RMB 450,000 Options and insurance are additional.
Horizon RMB 628,000 RMB 520,000 Availability and configuration depend on the current order system.

Earlier versions of this article converted the price into US dollars in the headline. That quickly becomes inaccurate as exchange rates move and can imply a US sale that does not exist. The evergreen owner therefore keeps the official RMB list prices and treats any currency conversion as a dated estimate.

Key NIO ES9 specifications

Official ES9 launch specifications and what they do—and do not—prove
Item Official figure Buyer meaning Evidence limit
Length / wheelbase 5,365 / 3,250 mm Full-size exterior and long three-row cabin. Measure parking and garage access locally.
Seats / luggage 6 seats; 816 L storage; 216 L front trunk Designed for executive travel and family luggage. Official measurement method may differ from rivals.
Rated range Up to 620 km CLTC Useful for comparing China configurations. Not a real-world or WLTP result.
Electrical system All-domain 900V; 5C charging Supports high-power charging where compatible hardware is available. Peak charging does not equal an average charge curve.
Battery swap About 3 minutes Fast replenishment on compatible NIO stations. Queue, positioning and route access affect total stop time.
Acceleration 0–100 km/h in 4.3 seconds Strong performance for a large six-seat SUV. Company figure; conditions are not a public independent test.
Turning radius 5.4 meters Rear-wheel steering reduces low-speed maneuvering space. Driver still needs to account for body width and overhang.

What makes the ES9 different?

The ES9 packages several technologies that NIO previously introduced at flagship level. Its SkyRide chassis uses a 48V integrated hydraulic fully active suspension, steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering. NIO says the suspension can control pitch and roll while the rear steering helps the long vehicle achieve a 5.4-meter turning radius.

The vehicle also uses NIO’s in-house NX9031 intelligent-driving chip and a 31-sensor Cedar AQUILA system. Those components support NIO WorldModel and NOP+ assisted-driving features, but they do not make the ES9 an autonomous vehicle. Feature availability, driver responsibility and legal operation depend on the software version and market.

Space, comfort and executive use

NIO positions the ES9 between a premium three-row SUV and an executive mobile lounge. It reports 2,805 mm of cabin length, more than 1.5 meters of second-row legroom, over one meter of headroom in all three rows and space for six occupants plus 13 suitcases. Second-row seats, dual 16-inch executive displays, conferencing hardware and active noise control target passengers as much as the driver.

Buyers should test those claims in their actual seating configuration. A large published cargo figure does not answer whether six adults can carry six large suitcases without blocking visibility, and an executive console may trade flexibility for comfort. Physical inspection matters more than a specification sheet for this category.

Range, charging and battery swapping

The headline range is up to 620 km under China’s CLTC test. Weather, speed, tire choice, payload, HVAC use and elevation will reduce or occasionally improve real-world efficiency. Until independent tests report route, temperature and configuration, BYDToday does not convert the CLTC figure into a promised motorway range.

The 900V architecture and 5C claim describe the vehicle’s technical ceiling, not what every charger delivers. The actual curve depends on battery state of charge, temperature, charger capability and site power. Battery swapping provides a different path: a compatible station exchanges the pack instead of waiting for energy transfer. The economics and contract limits are explained in How NIO Battery Swap and BaaS Work.

Early sales evidence: what is confirmed

NIO’s July 1 investor release says the ES9 reached 10,000 cumulative deliveries on June 26, within 30 days of deliveries beginning May 28. This is stronger evidence than the earlier article’s analyst forecasts about 25,000 orders, June volume or second-quarter profitability, so those forecasts have been removed from the evergreen page.

The milestone proves a strong initial launch in China’s premium segment; it does not prove annual demand, profitability or long-term resale value. Post 1694 remains useful as a dated record of the first four delivery days, but it should link to this page rather than compete for the ES9 launch intent.

Who should consider the ES9?

  • Consider it if: you need six-seat space, premium second-row comfort and frequent access to NIO’s swap or high-power charging network in China.
  • Compare carefully if: you drive long motorway routes, tow, use mountain roads or rely on public charging outside dense NIO coverage.
  • Skip BaaS until you model it if: you have not added the subscription and contract transfer assumptions to your expected ownership period.
  • Wait for local evidence if: you live outside China; price, homologation, service and delivery have not been confirmed for most overseas markets.
  • Test the cabin yourself if: six-adult luggage capacity, child-seat access, garage fit or third-row comfort is decisive.

ES9 versus ES8 and ET9

The ES9 is NIO’s flagship executive SUV. The ES8 remains the broader premium three-row SUV, while the ET9 is the executive flagship sedan. Shared technology does not make them substitutes: the buyer decision turns on passenger layout, cargo, maneuverability and chauffeur-versus-driver priorities.

NIO’s July 9, 2026 five-seat ES8 launch also expands the group’s premium SUV ladder. A shopper should compare the current official order configurations rather than assuming older ES8, presale ES9 and current ES9 prices remain interchangeable.

What remains unverified

Independent real-world range, long-term reliability, insurance cost, residual value, sustained fast-charge curves and broad overseas availability remain unavailable or incomplete. NIO’s launch superlatives—such as “world’s first” or “industry first”—are manufacturer claims and should be treated as such unless an independent technical standard confirms the comparison set.

International readers should also distinguish NIO’s global engineering activity from retail availability. The company’s UK engineering hub and asset-light European strategy do not mean the ES9 is approved, priced or serviced in the UK.
