Does the quota confirm BYD is coming to Canada?
No. The quota is brand-neutral. A normal consumer launch still requires a Canadian-compliant vehicle, an eligible importer, commercial distribution, warranty and parts support, insurance acceptance and published retail terms. No current BYD primary source reviewed by BYDToday supplied Canadian passenger-car prices, a dealer map or a final launch date.
Can an individual import a Chinese-market EV?
Usually not through a simple one-off purchase. Transport Canada says vehicles made and designed for markets other than Canada normally do not meet Canadian requirements. A case-by-case process applies to new Canadian-specification vehicles bought directly from a foreign manufacturer, not an ordinary foreign-dealer purchase. Vehicles more than 15 years old and limited temporary entries have separate rules.
Can a Canada-legal Chinese EV be driven or sold permanently in the U.S.?
Canadian admission does not create U.S. admission. U.S. safety, emissions, customs, connected-vehicle and state registration rules remain separate.
