Zeekr Hits 800K Global Deliveries, Debuts 9-Series Global Strategy

Geely’s premium electric vehicle brand Zeekr crossed a major milestone on June 16, 2026, as cumulative global deliveries officially exceeded 800,000 vehicles. The achievement was announced at the 2026 International Automotive and Supply Chain Expo in Hong Kong, where the brand also laid out an aggressive global expansion roadmap for its flagship 9-Series models — the ultra-luxury ZEEKR 9X SUV and the ZEEKR 009 Grand MPV.

Why It Matters Globally

Zeekr’s rapid ascent to 800,000 units underscores the growing competitiveness of Chinese premium EV brands on the world stage. Unlike many Chinese automakers that focus on budget segments, Zeekr has carved out a premium position — and it is winning. According to the official press release, the brand commands a 40.7% share of Hong Kong’s luxury vehicle market and leads luxury EV segments in Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and Mexico.

For global auto industry watchers, Zeekr’s trajectory challenges the assumption that Chinese premium EVs cannot compete with established German luxury marques. With the 9X targeting markets across the Middle East, Latin America, Central Asia and Europe, the brand is mounting a direct assault on territory long dominated by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi.

What Chinese Automakers Are Building

The ZEEKR 9X is the brand’s most ambitious vehicle yet. Built on Geely’s proprietary SEA-S architecture, it features a 900V high-performance silicon carbide electric drive system delivering over 1,030 kW (1,381 hp) of maximum power. Its body structure, incorporating extensive 2,000 MPa ultra-high-strength steel, achieves a torsional rigidity of 41,600 N·m/deg — among the highest ever recorded for a hybrid SUV. The 9X has already opened pre-sales in the Middle East, where initial market reception has been described as “strong”.

The 009 Grand, the brand’s ultra-luxury four-seat MPV flagship, pushes boundaries further with a 720-degree comprehensive safety architecture and the world’s first integrated die-cast C-ring cabin structure. Its second row features aniline leather executive seats with 20 massage points and a seven-zone graphene heating system — features typically found only in Bentley or Rolls-Royce territory. A right-hand-drive version is scheduled to launch in Hong Kong in Q4 2026.

The ZEEKR 8X, a super hybrid high-performance SUV, also debuted in Hong Kong. Built on the SEA-S Super Hybrid Architecture, it represents Zeekr’s bet on plug-in hybrid technology for markets where charging infrastructure is still maturing. The 8X previously claimed the 30,000-50,000 RMB hybrid SUV sales crown in May with 6,103 units.

What Western Luxury Brands Should Watch

Zeekr’s global market share numbers tell a compelling story. In Hong Kong, often considered Asia’s luxury automotive barometer, the brand’s 40.7% segment share in the first five months of 2026 is remarkable — it means Zeekr outsold every single legacy luxury brand in the city. The 009 became Hong Kong’s best-selling luxury MPV, displacing the Toyota Alphard and Lexus LM.

In Southeast Asia — a market where Japanese brands have historically dominated — Zeekr is equally disruptive. It ranks as the No. 1 luxury pure-electric brand in Malaysia and the top luxury pure-electric MPV brand in Thailand. In Australia, it leads the luxury SUV segment above AUD 65,000. Even in Mexico, the ZEEKR 7X outsold all rivals in the luxury EV category in both April and May 2026.

For Western automakers, Zeekr’s success in these markets signals that Chinese premium EVs are not a theoretical threat — they are already winning in real sales battles. The 9-Series global rollout, which ArenaEV reports will begin in the Middle East in June 2026 before expanding to Central Asia, Latin America and Europe, means the competition is about to intensify dramatically.

What This Means for EV Buyers

For global EV buyers, Zeekr’s expansion means more choices at the premium end of the market. The brand’s strategy of offering 900V architecture, 1,000+ kW powertrains, and luxury-grade interiors at prices competitive with mid-tier German models could reshape price expectations across the segment.

The 9X’s emphasis on safety — with 2,000 MPa steel structures and 41,600 N·m/deg rigidity — also raises the bar for crash protection in the luxury SUV category. Buyers in markets like Australia and Mexico, where Zeekr is already well-established with strong service networks, can expect competitive pricing and feature packages that significantly undercut traditional luxury brands on a spec-for-spec basis. The brand now operates across more than 60 cities worldwide with comprehensive R&D, planning, operations and customer service capabilities according to the official announcement.
