Smart #6 EHD Launches With 1,810 km Range, Standard LiDAR and Mercedes Design From $24,800

Why It Matters Globally

Smart — the joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely — has unveiled the #6 EHD, the world’s longest-range hatchback at 1,810 km combined. With standard LiDAR and a Mercedes-designed cabin, it undercuts European rivals on price while matching them on technology, signaling a new competitive threat in the global C-segment.

Price and Variants

The Smart #6 EHD launched June 11 with three variants priced from 177,900 to 217,900 yuan ($24,800–$30,400), according to Sina Finance citing Kuaikeji. The limited-time pricing undercuts the pre-sale figures of 189,900 yuan, making it one of the most affordable LiDAR-equipped sedans on the market.

1,810 km Range: How It Works

The #6 EHD is Smart’s first plug-in hybrid, powered by a 1.5T engine paired with a 3-speed DHT transmission and electric motor. CLTC pure-electric range reaches up to 285 km, while the combined range stretches to a class-leading 1,810 km. The 0–100 km/h sprint takes 6.7 seconds, per QQ News.

Smart brands the powertrain as “EHD Super Hybrid” — and at 4,906 mm long, the #6 is the largest vehicle Smart has ever produced, and its first hybrid sedan.

Standard LiDAR and Smart Driving

Every variant ships with LiDAR as standard — a first for a luxury JV brand at this price point. The “Qianli Haohan” intelligent driving system debuts on the #6, offering highway NSP (automatic lane changes, smart ramp entry/exit) and urban map-free NSP that works even in narrow city streets, according to AutoHome.

Additional standard equipment includes ZF closed-loop steering, a Sennheiser 7.1.4 audio system with floating saucer-style speakers, and over 100 high-value features.

Mercedes Design, Smart Execution

The exterior and interior were penned by the Mercedes-Benz global design team. The cabin offers three color themes (Grid Yellow, Shadow Black, Field Brown) and a dual-screen cockpit. The rear seats recline to 122 degrees and fold flat into a 2-meter bed. The trunk opening is widened to 1,000 mm for easy loading.

The lighting system alone embeds 10,666 LED millimeter-level micro-dot matrix elements with PixelTalk interactive light arrays front and rear.
