Huawei HIMA Rebounds to 46,122 May Deliveries (+41% MoM)

Huawei HIMA Rebounds to 46,122 May Deliveries (+41% MoM)

Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) posted a sharp recovery in May 2026, delivering 46,122 vehicles across its AITO, LUXEED, STELATO, and MAEXTRO brands — a 40.79% month-on-month increase that reversed a two-month slide. The rebound was anchored by the launch of the all-new AITO M9 on May 27 and sustained demand for the AITO M6 mid-size SUV.

According to data shared by Huawei executive Richard Yu (余承东) at the M9 launch event in Shenzhen, HIMA’s cumulative deliveries have now surpassed 1.39 million units, with year-to-date 2026 deliveries reaching approximately 191,590 units through May — a 26.5% year-on-year increase. The 46,122-unit May figure includes 34,320 units from AITO alone, which surged 48.2% month-on-month.

New AITO M9: 140 Technologies, Starting at ¥479,800

The centerpiece of HIMA’s May rebound is the second-generation AITO M9, which Huawei calls its most technologically ambitious vehicle yet. The full-size flagship SUV packs 140 new technologies, including more than 40 industry-first features, spanning advanced driver assistance, smart cockpit, chassis control, and powertrain management.

Priced from ¥479,800 (about $66,600), the new M9 is available in both EREV and BEV variants, with the extended-range version offering a combined range exceeding 1,400 km. Huawei’s ADS 3.0 (Autonomous Driving System) comes standard, featuring urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) capability across more than 400 Chinese cities without HD map dependency. The Ultimate extended-wheelbase edition starts at ¥649,800 (about $90,200), directly challenging the Li Auto L9 and Mercedes GLS in China’s premium SUV segment.

Portfolio Expansion: From Mass Market to Ultra-Luxury

HIMA’s brand portfolio now spans from the AITO M6 (starting around ¥250,000 / $34,700) to the MAEXTRO V800 ultra-luxury sedan (expected above ¥1,000,000 / $139,000). The LUXEED and STELATO brands, developed with Chery and BAIC respectively, are ramping production, while the recently launched Zhijie V9 and the upcoming Shangjie Z7 series — targeting the ¥150,000-200,000 ($20,800-$27,800) mass market — aim to push HIMA’s monthly volume past 60,000 units by late 2026.

Per Sina Finance, HIMA’s May performance disproved earlier market narratives that Xiaomi’s EV push would “pierce through all five HIMA brands” (a reference to a popular Chinese automotive meme). In reality, HIMA’s April-to-May recovery was one of the steepest month-on-month rebounds among any Chinese NEV group.

What’s Next

HIMA’s immediate challenge is converting the new M9’s launch momentum into sustained volume. With the Zhijie V9 entering deliveries in June and the Shangjie Z7 targeting the mass market, Huawei’s automotive ecosystem is simultaneously fighting on three fronts: premium flagship (M9/V800), volume core (M6/M7), and entry-level scale (Z7). Whether HIMA can hit its ambitious 1 million annual target for 2026 remains an open question, but May’s data suggests the trajectory is at least pointing in the right direction.
