GAC Yue 7 Off-Road PHEV Enters China Q3 2026 with Huawei LiDAR and 536 HP

GAC Group’s Yue 7 off-road SUV will enter the Chinese market in the third quarter of 2026, bringing a powerful PHEV powertrain, Huawei-sourced LiDAR, and serious off-road hardware to a rapidly expanding segment. First unveiled as the Trumpchi T75 at the April 2026 Beijing Auto Show, the production model has been confirmed for the GAC Trumpchi brand with substantial off-road capability.

Measuring 5,045 mm long, 2,030 mm wide, and 1,933 mm tall with a 2,900 mm wheelbase, the Yue 7 is a full-size five-seat off-roader with a side-opening tailgate and externally mounted spare tire. The boxy, upright design language is unmistakably off-road-focused, with rectangular headlights, wide wheel arches, and substantial bumpers that signal authentic capability rather than cosmetic ruggedness.

Powertrain and Off-Road Hardware

The GMC 3.0 plug-in hybrid system pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine (125 kW / 168 hp) with dual electric motors delivering a combined 400 kW (536 hp) through an i-4WD all-wheel-drive system. Two battery options are available: a 28.3 kWh pack providing 116 km of pure-electric range, and a 46 kWh pack extending EV range to 188 km — sufficient for most daily commutes without the combustion engine.

The off-road credentials are genuine. In low-speed crawl mode, torque is amplified five-fold for steep ascents. The system can maintain single-wheel traction even when the other three wheels are airborne, a capability typically associated with dedicated off-road vehicles equipped with locking differentials. The unibody construction with enhanced off-road reinforcement bridges the gap between traditional body-on-frame vehicles and more road-biased SUVs.

Huawei LiDAR and Smart Features

A roof-mounted Huawei 896-line dual-path LiDAR unit provides environmental sensing for advanced driver assistance both on and off pavement. Huawei’s involvement signals GAC’s commitment to competitive ADAS capabilities even in a vehicle category where smart driving is typically a secondary consideration. The 896-line specification places the Yue 7 at the top of the LiDAR resolution pyramid among production vehicles.

The Yue 7 targets competitors including the BYD Fang Cheng Bao 5 (Denza B5), Great Wall Tank 400, and Chery’s off-road offerings. GAC Trumpchi’s April 2026 sales of 14,848 units — down 25.8% year-on-year — underscore the brand’s need for a compelling new product. The Yue 7’s combination of PHEV efficiency, authentic off-road hardware, and Huawei’s smart driving technology gives it a differentiated position in a segment that is rapidly electrifying but still values traditional off-road credibility.
