The largest vehicle in Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance targets the ultra-luxury MPV segment with a 5.5-meter body and dual-motor AWD.

Specifications That Redefine the MPV Segment
The MAEXTRA V800, the first MPV from Huawei’s ultra-luxury MAEXTRA brand, was officially revealed in the MIIT Batch 407 filing on May 9, 2026. With dimensions of 5,495 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width, 1,850 mm in height, and a massive 3,430 mm wheelbase, it is one of the largest MPVs ever produced by a Chinese manufacturer. Its wheelbase alone exceeds that of the Li Auto MEGA by 150 mm, underscoring the focus on interior space that defines the ultra-luxury MPV segment.
The V800 employs a range-extender powertrain consisting of a 1.5T turbocharged engine generating 127 kW combined with dual electric motors producing 160 kW (front) and 230 kW (rear) for a total system output of 390 kW (523 horsepower). The 63 kWh battery pack provides a WLTC pure electric range of approximately 275 km. While full range figures have not yet been disclosed, the sister model ZhiJie V9 achieves up to 1,250 km combined range, suggesting the V800 will offer comparable total range.
The design language carries forward the distinctive styling established by the MAEXTRA S800 sedan, featuring a long hood, vertical tail lights, and a prominent chrome-accented grille. The prototype images show a champagne gold and brown two-tone color scheme, projecting the premium gravitas expected in the executive transport segment. Dual electric sliding doors, a panoramic roof, and VIP rear seats with airline-style leg rests are expected to be standard.
Huawei’s Dual-MPV Strategy: V800 Above, V9 Below
The V800’s filing coincides with the May 15 launch of the ZhiJie V9, Huawei’s more accessibly priced flagship MPV. Together, the two models form what Huawei calls a “dual flagship” MPV strategy. The ZhiJie V9 is priced between 399,800 and 529,800 yuan and targets the mainstream premium segment, competing with the Denza D9 and Voyah Dreamer. The MAEXTRA V800, by contrast, is expected to command prices of 800,000 to over one million yuan, directly challenging the Toyota Alphard (899,000-929,000 yuan) and potentially the Lexus LM.
The ZhiJie V9 has already demonstrated strong market reception, accumulating 22,500 orders within 72 hours of its debut. This bodes well for the V800, as it validates consumer appetite for Huawei-powered premium MPVs. The V800 is expected to feature an even more advanced suite of Huawei technologies, potentially including the Huawei Kunpeng ADS 5.0 autonomous driving system, a HarmonyOS-powered smart cockpit, and the Snowy Owl (Xue Xiao) intelligent range-extension system.
The strategic positioning of the two MPVs mirrors Huawei’s broader approach across its Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA). By offering technology at multiple price tiers through different brand partnerships, Huawei can capture value across the entire premium vehicle market without diluting the exclusivity of the MAEXTRA brand. This platform-sharing strategy allows for faster time-to-market and lower development costs compared to building entirely separate vehicle architectures.
The Global Ultra-Luxury MPV Opportunity
The ultra-luxury MPV segment, long dominated by Toyota’s Alphard and Lexus LM in Asian markets, represents a unique opportunity for Chinese automakers. These vehicles command extraordinary price premiums due to scarcity, brand prestige, and the cultural importance of executive transport in markets like China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. The Alphard frequently sells for above its MSRP due to dealer markups, and the Lexus LM commands prices exceeding 1.5 million yuan.
Chinese consumers have historically been the primary market for these Japanese luxury MPVs. The MAEXTRA V800 aims to capture this demand domestically while potentially offering an alternative for other Asian markets. If the V800 can match or exceed the Alphard’s ride quality, reliability, and prestige perception, it could significantly disrupt a segment where Chinese brands have had virtually no presence.
However, the ultra-luxury segment demands more than just specifications. Brand perception, dealer network quality, and after-sales service all play critical roles. The MAEXTRA S800 sedan, priced up to 1.018 million yuan, has begun establishing the brand’s premium credentials. The V800 MPV will be a crucial test of whether Huawei and its manufacturing partner JAC Motors can extend that prestige into the executive transport segment that has been Toyota’s exclusive domain for over two decades.
