Updated 21 July 2026. The BYD SHARK is a plug-in hybrid pickup, not a battery-electric truck. Australia sells three SHARK 6 versions, while BYD’s 11 July 2026 UK release confirms a distinct UK-specification SHARK DMO.
Quick answer: Australian buyers can choose the 321 kW Dynamic Cab Chassis or Premium with 2,500 kg braked towing, or the 350 kW Performance with 3,500 kg towing. UK specification is different: BYD confirms 436 PS, 650 Nm, up to 90 km of electric range, 675 km combined range and 2,500 kg towing, but no official UK price was located as of 21 July. The SHARK is not offered through a normal U.S. retail channel.
Australia SHARK 6 specifications
| Version | Powertrain | Output | 0-100 km/h | Braked towing | Official combined range shown |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dynamic Cab Chassis | 1.5T DMO, AWD | 321 kW / 650 Nm | 5.7 sec | 2,500 kg | 800 km |
| Premium | 1.5T DMO, AWD | 321 kW / 650 Nm | 5.7 sec | 2,500 kg | 800 km |
| Performance | 2.0T DMO, AWD | 350 kW / 700 Nm | 5.5 sec | 3,500 kg | 640 km WLTP |
BYD’s Australian page labels the Performance values as WLTP but presents the 800 km Dynamic/Premium claim with separate footnotes. Do not compare the figures as if they use one identical test cycle.
UK SHARK DMO: confirmed specifications and missing information
BYD’s 11 July UK-specification release confirms a five-seat double cab with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, two electric motors, all-wheel drive and a 29.58 kWh Blade Battery. The combined system produces 436 PS and 650 Nm, with 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
| Item | Status | UK figure |
|---|---|---|
| System output | CONFIRMED | 436 PS / 650 Nm |
| Electric range | CONFIRMED | Up to 90 km |
| Combined range | CONFIRMED | 675 km |
| Braked towing | CONFIRMED | 2,500 kg |
| Price, order opening and first delivery | UNAVAILABLE | Wait for BYD UK’s configurator or purchase page |
The UK model also has 55 kW DC charging, a 6 kW Vehicle-to-Load system, two 230V sockets, a 15.6-inch touchscreen and a head-up display. These UK figures should not be replaced with Australian Performance specifications.
Australia buyer module: price, offers and towing checks
Use the live Australian configurator for the list price and state-specific drive-away total. BYD Australia is advertising a A$2,500 cashback campaign for Dynamic Cab Chassis and Premium orders placed from 1 to 31 July 2026 and delivered by 30 August 2026. That is a dated campaign, not the normal list price, and it does not cover the Performance version on the offer page reviewed.
- Daily driving plus occasional towing: Premium offers the full double-cab pickup body and 2,500 kg braked capacity.
- Work-body flexibility: Dynamic Cab Chassis is the body-builder route; include the fitted body in payload and axle calculations.
- Heavy trailer priority: Performance reaches 3,500 kg, but buyers must still check GVM, GCM, tow-ball load and remaining payload.
- Offer check: record order date, delivery deadline, eligible trim and whether the quoted total already includes cashback.
Range: why one SHARK number is misleading
A plug-in hybrid has electric-only range and combined petrol-plus-electric range, and the laboratory cycle differs by market. The UK release quotes up to 90 km electric and 675 km combined. Australia displays 800 km combined for Dynamic/Premium and 640 km WLTP for Performance. Real use changes with charging frequency, trailer mass, payload, speed, temperature and terrain.
